So what are the advantages of putting on the FZ1 bars.

Are the more comfortable (riding position)?
Is it for looks?
Does it change how you steer causing better agility?
Or is it something else?

I cahnged to FZ1s to Change the horizontal angel that the stockers put on my wrist. I also painted mine black, for looks. It also feels more athletic interms of ergos. Still breaking in new tires and its cold a hell so i cant say anything about handeling:thumbup:

I've mentioned this a few times already, but if all you're looking for is a more natural angle to your wrists, install the FZ6R bars. They angle forward about 1" further at the bar ends than the standard FZ6 bars. They made a world of difference to my riding. I would particularly recommend them to anyone 5'8" or less looking for a more comfortable bar. I am in that group and it is amazing how much further forward I'm leaning with the "R" bars when riding....FZ1 bars would have stretched me out too much.

1) Your wrists aren't bent inwards.

2) The line from your shoulder through your wrists to the handlebars is straighter.

3) It is a little bit more forward but just by a touch.

4) Still all day touring comfort.

5) Women will find you more attractive.

6) It is the cure for male itch.

How could women find me more attractive than I already am? (he asks as he scratches at his male itch).

And I still seem to have that male itch...maybe needs to be on an FZ6.

Couldn't see anything in there about FZ1 bars on an FZ6.....Are you sure?

I reckon the first 4 are right though:thumbup:.

Well, maybe it's your riding style. I dunno about you, but I always grind my bike before I get started. The FZ1 bars get into those tough to reach crevices much better than the stock FZ6 bars.

I had the FZ1 bars on my fz6, felt a lot more comfortable.
And now obviously on my fz1, its a nice and semi sports like angle, while still not having to lean on your wrists. Great upgrade if u have an fz6

;) If you buy the right bars, it adds 40+ HP to the FZ.... :D

Mine are carbon fibre so they must add at least 50HP

I have "Racing" clip-on's on one of mine....that's gotta be worth 100hp! :BLAA:

But seriously, the FZ1 bars, or aftermarket drag bars take weight of your lower back, re-distributing more weight onto your arms and shoulders, which for some of us with dodgy lower backs, is preferrable....still not hardcore humping of the turtle, but not as upright as the OEM FZ6 seating position.

putting yo further forward on the bike, also gives you more feedback from the front wheel.

Lower position for your upper body. The disadvantage, that I see, is there is no drop to the bar. For me a totally flat bar is uncomfortable to my wrists. As with my FZ6 I put Convertibars on the FZ1 to find the "perfect" position for me.

This conversastion made me want to wash my hands!!! :BLAA: LMFAO :spank: :rof:

The stock bars hurt my wrists due to the sweep and angle. I went with FZ1 bars and thought they were much better but you do lean in more than stock so I ended up getting a pair of Rizoma's and they are GREAT. Highly recommend them as they are really lite and are slightly raised higher than the flat FZ1 bar. If you get them you also should pickup a barsnake to insert in the bars to eliminate any buzz. This is a great setup for sure!
