I bought my first bike ever a few days ago. It is an 2005 FZ6.
I thought the fz6 had electric fuel injection, but when I took it to the shop, the guy told me it had a carburetor. Can anyone explain the difference between EFI and what my bike has? I thought if it had a carburetor, it would have a choke too.

I know this sounds really noob-ey but that's why I'm here.
Thanks ahead of time!

Port fuel injection. No carbs...... Someone is confusing throttle bodies with carbs.

What he said, and to add to it, I would never take my bike back to that shop because they obviously don't know what they are doing...

Throttle Bodies and those orange items are the injectors attached to the Fuel rail. Be sure to take your bike back there when you want detuned! :spank: :spank:

Oh - and Welcome to the forum!

make sure and ask him to check your blinker fluid, muffler bearings and carburetor belts next time you take your bike in.

PM me with an e-mail address and the year bike and I'll forward you a PDF Yamaha shop manual. Maybe send the shop a copy too... (unfriggin real)

And welcome to the forum!!:welcome:

AFAIK because they are subject to copyright, which if individual persons want to violate, then so be it - but if the forum makes them available, then it is a much easier target.

Cheers,
Rick

Not to derail - but why are shop manual links always "PM'd" and not in some main sticky?

+1 on mave2911's post..

I can't speak for anyone else, I have both Yamaha manuals (05-06 and 07-09) as PDF files on my lap top and desk top computers. I can only send them as an attachment on an e-mail.

As noted above, I doubt you'll see a sticky under the circumstances.

Behind the scenes transferring of data is a little more discrete.
