Radiator Fan replacement, will an earlier model work/fit 07

I am in the market for a radiator fan since my fan is dead. I am seeing a lot of fans for models under 07.
Will an earlier fan fit the 07 fz6?

I believe the mounting is different and I know from looking it up before the s1 versus s2 series have different part numbers. I'm wondering is the motor it self is swappable?

Some rigorous searching on this forum revealed that the mounting is different for sure. Not sure if any one has been successful in porting over the motor alone. I am guessing the Wattage,fuse etc settings for a <07 model are the same as an 07.
I found the Part# 4S8-12405-00-00 which goes for 202 + shipping. Kind of steep for a little assembly, but cheaper than what the dealership quoted 300$.

I can't find any on ebay, might just bite the bullet and get it from boats.net

How safe is it to ride the bike without the fan? I am almost never in stop and go traffic. I am guessing as long as the temperature light doesn't start blinking I am good to go
