Exhaust re-packing material

Hi all,

I have a set of TBR CF cans on my FZ6 & I think it's probably time I looked into repacking them. I watched a "Delboy's garage" video on youtube where he used normal household loft/attic insulation to repack his. Is this acceptable, can I use this instead, or should I stop being such a pussy & buy the proper kit?

It's really not that expensive I suppose, I think it's about £25 all in, but if I could use loft insulation it'll cost me bugger all & I could do it tonight ready for the big bike night tomorrow!! :D

Thanks guys;

I believe it is the same material as regular insulation. The kit is just nicely pre-cut and packaged.

Having said that, I wouldn't mess around with this on a CF can. If it was alu, maybe, but having my CF can explode on me because my packing material burned off.. I would not risk it.

Not to mention your attic would eventually get very drafty :D

Sorry Erci, I read & typed your username wrong! My apologies.

Funny how many don't even notice.. and that's exactly where the username comes from.. my body kept typing "Eric" as "Erci" in Yahoo messenger, many years ago :D

Thank you! Great information! Now I'm inspired to do mine. I notice the tone has changed quite a bit over time.

When I had my dirtbike, I repacked the FMF pipe several times. I don't remember it being that difficult. I did use the manufacturer recommended material tho. This winter my LV's carbons will be getting new stuffing.
