1986 fz 600 purgatory

Would love to see pics.

Another classic tale of the FZ's dangerous seduction.

Haha, Dangerous seduction is right!!! As well as a spendy Seduction!

Just to put it all in perspective, I paid $1900 for mine. I knew it was a bit much, but I've always wanted one. All said and done I probably had another $1000 invested into keeping it running. Then I ended up selling it for $1350 or something like that. My the end, I just wanted her gone, and that money was the last bit of cash I needed to go pick up my new-to-me Fz6 (which had been nothing but a JOY to own!!)

Part of me wishes I still had the Fz600.. just to sit in the corner of the garage and look pretty!!

Hopefully tonight i can get pics up.

Not to be a Debbie Downer but have you put together a priority of work list and supporting budget?

1) Engine out
2) head off / heil coil stripped bolt
3) FIND FUC**** SHIM

Budget already blown. I should already have everything I need (fingers crossed).

I HAVE to find that shim. Should run fine after that (????).

This is the last gasp. If I don't make it out of purgatory. I'm parting this thing out.

Oh man. Would LOVE to Judge Judy this guy. Although she'd probably rip me one for being so naive. :((((

Seriously though, would like to see this guy sweat / squirm. Best part is, he told me a story of when he bought his first bike and got screwed over. He then went on to extol the virtues of the biking community / looking out for one another. What. an. a-hole.

Almost got the engine out. Stuck on one bolt.

Double sided. Just spinning and I can't seem to hold both at once.

Any suggestions?

Use a GOOD pair of original VISE GRIPS on one end and soak with penetrating oil.

If you have an air gun, vise grips and that would zip it off it pretty quick.

If accessible, a small grinder to the nut would also do it....

Well GOOD for you!!! GREAT JOB!!

Don't ya love vise grips? (I have 7 different ones, different sizes and styles)

I'm glad you stuck it out and got it! Glad you didn't have to split cases!

Saved a classic!!!

Now you can fix that stripped hole and start assembling. I didn't see any blow by on the pistons showing.

The insides look in good shape?
