It must be the anti-friction, radar absorbing, anti-gravity material they put in the red and blue pigment on the '06 models that makes the plastics 3x the cost of the '05 silver :eek:

'06 Upper Cowl: $261.74
'06 side cowls: $57.48 each
'06 rear sides: $62.09 each

'05 Upper Cowl: $84.91
'05 side cowls: $54.19 each
'05 Rear sides: $20.49 each

WTF. Either we're getting raped on markups or that's the most expensive paint ever. I guess I'll be going silver from here on out. jeez.

I agree, the red paint must be made of Plutonium!
Think for the money it's the best performance upgrade available, forget about pipes and PCIII, just paint it red...:rockon:

It is possible that the 05 parts were all made at one point and then when it came time for the 06 parts to be made the price for those materials sky rocketed. Kinda like batteries did a few years ago. Just a thought. And if they get to where they need to remanufactuer the 05 parts the price will prob. go up.

Where did you get these prices ?
 
Yeah it's a bit rediculous, but think of it this way

Red/Blue is painted
Black is just straight black plastic

When I replaced my main fairing, it was only $80 for the black as opposed to $330 for the red.
