    What is your helmet color?

I've just replaced my Shoei Raid II helmet with an AGV Compact Flip-Up in hi-vis yellow and black. Looks the mutts when I've got the Weise Hornet jacket on as well.

    Where's everyone gone?

Chalk up another one for the West Midlands, although I'm not riding my bike anywhere near as much at the moment. Working from home has some advantages but it does mean some days I don't even get out the front door.

SpeedoDRD and R&G aero crash bungs for sale (UK)

The R&G Crash Bungs, do you know if they're compatible with the Powerbronze Fairing lowers? The crash bungs I've got installed on my bike I don't think extend out enough to protect the fairings from being scratched up in the event of a fall. The second image in your post though looks like...

Replacing OEM cans with scorpions on 2005 fz6 Fazer

I've just had a quick look at that post you referenced and those mufflers aren't quite the same, his are the oval mufflers which are wider and a little flatter than the round mufflers I've got. With the profile of the ovals there is no way the Givi bracket would fit the way it's intended to...

Replacing OEM cans with scorpions on 2005 fz6 Fazer

It's all back together now, the mufflers aren't going anywhere trust me! They're as secure as they could be, or as tight as a Gnats chuff :-) Fortunately the Givi brackets that fit around the exhaust have a heat resistant rubber strip on the inside edge which avoids direct contact. The...

Replacing OEM cans with scorpions on 2005 fz6 Fazer

Oh and while I'd love to run the bike without the baffles, I live in a new housing estate and we're still getting acquainted with our neighbours. I don't want to be known as that noisy a-hole on the motorbike :-) It's also illegal as far as I know in the UK to run the bike without them, not...

Replacing OEM cans with scorpions on 2005 fz6 Fazer

Ok have been out and taken a couple more pics of the system. With the Givi top mounts in place, the exhaust does touch the subframe but seems to be very secure. I can't wiggle it at any point, but whether it's the same under movement is another matter.

Replacing OEM cans with scorpions on 2005 fz6 Fazer

Scott, On closer inspection it does indeed look like an OEM part now and after applying a little WD40 to the outer area of the mid-pipe I managed to get the gasket to slide off. I should have checked the parts fiche to begin with, to see what parts were included as that would have...

Replacing OEM cans with scorpions on 2005 fz6 Fazer

It's not a solid gasket as such so there's no chance of being able to tap it off the end of the pipe. I started unwrapping it last night but as I said found that it snagged on the leading edge of the pipe tip. It looks like a strip of wire gauze that's been wrapped around the pipe end, but...

Replacing OEM cans with scorpions on 2005 fz6 Fazer

As far as I'm aware the bike is stock and I'm sure it's still got the bulge in the cat mid-pipe which would suggest it hasn't been replaced. I want to take the wrap of the mid pipe, it's just I know that in doing so I'll not be able to put the OEM can back on again without somehow replacing the...

Replacing OEM cans with scorpions on 2005 fz6 Fazer

Scott, do you still have the OEM pipe on your bike? The OEM link pipe on mine definitely wouldn't fit securely if this wrap wasn't on the end of the cat pipe. The wrap itself looks like its bonded on the leading edge to the pipe tip. Not sure if this is as a result of the heat cycle that the...

Replacing OEM cans with scorpions on 2005 fz6 Fazer

Evening all, Need some advice on the correct fitment of my new to me scorpion stainless steel exhaust system. The OEM link pipe has an internal diameter of 50mm, the replacement scorpion pipe is 45mm. The outer diameter of the OEM cat pipe at the tip is 45mm, however there appears to be some...

Help needed from a UK member...

Hi LFZ6, The Local dealer has confirmed the part number and the cost is £4.79 and it's in stock at Yamaha Europe, so I guess it would take a couple of days to arrive before it can be sent on. Let me know if you want me to order for it for you.

What is the primary use of your FZ6?

I guess I'm in Other. I use the FZ6 for both pleasure (ride outs at the weekend solo or group) as well as using it for commuting to and from places of work. Prior to me getting the FZ6 I used to travel about 12k+ miles per year in the car only. Nowadays it's more like 3-4k in the car...

Heated grips heating up while off

Never heard of something like this happening with heated grips before now  Have you tried them again since this morning, in other words, do they consistently heat up when the bike is running regardless of whether the control box is switched on or not? If this is happening...

My Leo Vince Install (Pics & Vids)

I was watching that same auction actually. Didn't put a bid in because I've just started looking for a replacement exhaust system for my bike and wanted to find out how much pipes were going for. The cans looked like they had a fair few marks on them in the photo's that I saw on eBay, how well...

Front brake caliper broken. Advice on replacment compatibility

Don't know about the OP, but in my case it happened because I was trying to tighten up the caliper nut and basically applied too much torque. As well as replacing the caliper I also ended up picking up a decent torque wrench as well so as to avoid this happening again. Live and Learn.....
