The FZ6 is no longer offered for 2010

Am I the only one who really dislikes the headlights on the FZ1, especially when compared to the FZ6? I love the FZ1 in every other regard, but the FZ6's look so much sportier, while the FZ1's are firmly in the touring category, to me.

Are you drunk??? Have you carefully seen the pics of the FZ1?

FZ1 comes with a sportier geometry and has a 2-piece tail section, inverted USD forks and much slimmer fairing and handles 5x better. I had an almost inch of chicken strip on my fz6 in 2 years whereas my FZ1 has none in just 2 months. Thats how much better it handles.

The big problem with FZ1's is that they don't sell. Great bikes, but really hard to sell. The local dealer here still has 07's left. I have a 06 that I advertised as low as 4999.00 and couldn't sell it. So, I'm using it as test mule for some custom paint...

Now THAT is a paint scheme I like!

i wonder why the fz6 doesn't sell well. i mean the triumph street triple is one ugly naked bike and it seems to sell. and for some reason i'm considering buying it, even though i don't like that dual "eyes" headlights that much, nor do i like the way the exhausts look.

I bought a 2004 FZ6 this summer from my brother. It is my first bike and I am sad to see it dropped from the Yamaha line up. Everyone who sees it or rides it loves it. It is unfortunate most Americans can't see the value of a bike that is sporty and comfortable. Apparently for people to buy a sporty bike it needs to be completely covered in plastic. The FZ is extremely reliable. My brother bought it new in 04 and it now has nearly 75,000 miles on it and it still runs great.

don't think I could ever get over that ridiculous exhaust can on the FZ1,
there was one just recently here for sale, great deal, couldn't take my eyes
off that pipe, it's like a car wreck, you don't want to stare, but.........

In Europe the fz6 is one of the best selling bikes. And here there are still no sign's of the 2010's on the European Yamaha sites. So I wait, and the waiting can take some time because like last year the xj diversion was shown in september, but the naked version was shown much later. But I think that there might be some good news too. The racers now appear to have a 3 year cycle. But they are the more expensive range, and probably didn't sell as good as the more midrange models. So it wouldn't surprise me that they focused this year more on the midrange models. Time will give us advice. But I don't believe that the fz6 will be replaced by the xj6 diversion in Europe. There will be a succesor and if it isn't this year, then it is next year.

Would be sad if it happens since the XJ6 is really a step backwards not forwards in comparison to the FZ6 (its more inline with the street triple in a being comfortable, but gutless)
That being said there is alot of rumours about a new FZ6 design. Guess we will have to wait and see.

I don't think it is that bad... I mean it's not a B-King or anything absurd. Plus it does have to incorporate a catalytic converter. As cheap as FZ1's are, just factor in buying a new can- about 350-400.00. The bike is still an amazing deal for what you get. Here are a few pics of the new paint scheme with the clear coat drying...

The Street triple is comfortable but gutless???? Never heard anyone call the Triple "gutless"!

I think you're talking about another bike :D

omg that is amazing! I love that paint style on the older yamaha's and I bet it will look awesome on the FZ1

i think he meant the fz6r is comfortable like a triple, but gutless in comparison to it or the fz6

I bought my '82 650 Seca in '84 as a leftover because no one wanted a Euro-styled bike. Everyone was buying Specials, LTD's and Customs.

I was buying parts for it 2 years ago when I saw a leftover '06. It was the perfect replacement bike! The FZ1 had a smaller fairing and that ugly exhaust, so I shopped around and could have bought a leftover '07 FZ6 for a little more $$$ , but it had a smaller fairing. I like the look of the radiator cap being covered.

So I bought the '06, sold my Seca, and have been very happy. Maybe I'll ride this FZ6 for 20 years like my previous Yamaha.
