Got home from work today to the best surprise EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!! That guitar is a Danelectro. It was made in Neptune N.J. They made models for Sears Roebuck Co. in the 60's. The very same factory became Kramer guitars who's name took off after Eddie VanHalen made them famous. The Danelectros were considered garbage by many because if the cheap materials and and process by which they were made. Later they became a collectors item sought after by many famous musicians who like the flat fretboard and thin neck as well as the unique sound from the pick-ups which are now called lip-stick pickups because they looked like your moms old metal lip-stick case.
Now there's a Chinese knock off of these styles with the lip-stick pick-ups

He's has been part of any great guitar study that any one would do today.
When we were kids the Guitars Gods in our town went to Greenwich Village in New York to hear this new guitarist and their jaws dropped. When they came back they could barely explain what it was that they had seen. When he played, there was stuff happening that had never happened before like a door being kicked opened to a new dimension in the universe. That door remained open for so many and I don't know of an electric guitar player that hasn't touched on what he brought to us. There's a very interesting history to his journey here.
