In this day of political correctness and over commercialization, the real meaning of Thanksgiving is often lost. On October 14th, 1789 George Washington gave the General Thanksgiving Proclamation. Abraham Lincoln gave his proclamation on October 3rd, 1863. Below are links to the original proclamations. I know some may find this offensive, but this is our history, and you can't sweep that under a rug or sue it for money because of content. I hope this helps some remember of where we came from and what Thanksgiving really means to this great country.
