There has been a lot of talk about 'don't buy new tyres in summer because they wear quicker' and Pilot Road 2's get the best milage etc etc.
But....... at 12,000km, my Bridgestone 21's are getting there. Second set of tyres on the bike and the original 20's got 14,000 km and were square.

Now you tell me Bridgestone have the 23's out! I thought the 21's were replacing the 20's? I am leaning to Michys but thought a poll might be handy for us Aussie whos roads range from freeway smooth to mountain abrassive!

If I left your brand out, put it under other and let us know what you have tried. I ain't happy with the 21's, the front is rooted. maybe it is because I ride on country roads a lot and the camber has stuffed it. when its cold it feel like wood.
People from other countries are welcome to add to this poll, its just that our roads down here are very hard on tyres and I am trying to get a feel for what my comrades are using.

Mate , do yourself a favour & give a set of Metzeler Z6 Interacts a try  I have a set on the XJR & have nearly 13000k's on then , I reckon the rear will get in excess of 15000 & the tyres performance is 2nd to none..... Voted best sport touring tyre for the last 2 years aswell :D

I used to run Pilot Power F/Pilot Road 2 R, bloody good combo. The PR2 lasted about 14,000 k's

Anyway, now running Metzeler Sportec M3's. IMO they are better than the Michies. They may be wearing out a little quicker, but the performance makes up for it.

Believe the M3's have now been superceded by the M5.

On my old FZ I ran PR2's front and rear and loved them, the new bke has a pr2 on the rear and a Pure on the front.Haven't ridden enough to give good feed back on the combo yet ,but the Pure does feel pretty stable to date.

Dunlop Sportmax (the original ones) - my 08 only has 6700 kms on her. I've only been fully road legal without a shadow since June this year, so I am only clocking up the kms now.

They are in pretty good nick but my rear will be replaced before Tassie. Not sure what with yet - more Mikes department than mine :)

Sorry mate. Can't help you much. I don't buy tires for mileage. I usually replace tires every 4-6 weeks:eek:.

Best help I can give is to say that Pilot Power single compound tires were the most commonly used tires for my FZ6. They lasted ok, (7000km) and were sticky enough to have loads of fun on:D.

This video was done on cold, and partially damp roads on Pilot Power 1ct's.

I reckon tyres are a confidence thing. You probably need to try em from new & make your own decision.

I personally like the Angel ST on my FZ6. Good all round tyre but can be a little slippery in the cold. Particularly around the edges.

Before the Pirelli's I had a set of M3s on it but really chewed through them. Certainly didn't get the same life span out of em compared to the ST but still a good touring tyre.

I would try the pirelli's...if it was not for the stupid marketing campaign!!!

The Pilot Road's where an amazing upgrade from the stockers, which still had HEAPS of K's in them, except one also had a giant screw through it (the rear).

The difference is in the cold and wet the originals felt like I was ice skating and the Pilots feel like I'm practically super glued to the road!

Yep, the Pilot Road 2's are awesome...love em, love em, love em! Am pretty sure that is what is going on the touring FZ6 for the Tassie trip.
