Sturgis trip?

Has anyone gone to the Sturgis Rally in South Dakota? My friend wants to take a trip down there in Augus and I have always wanted to go there but havent had the opportunity to go til this year. I have heard stories of guys getting their bikes messed with if you are'nt on a HAWG but I aint gettin any younger and am pretty excited about going. Nobody in the group will be on Harleys, but I think there are lots of non-Harleys that attend and so we wont be alone. I've been looking at hotel prices and the cheapest has been about 280 a night!!! So I might be camping at the Buffalo Chip campground. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice. Thanks.

um, no haven't been to Sturgis during the rally, but John & I were there shortly after....and from what I heard from the locals, it's so crowded you can barely turn around with bumping someone. Be careful, have fun, and I will be interested in hearing about it.
