Stock muffler gutted and stuffed with stainless scouring pads

One of my fun little projects I've done on my bike. It's lasted just over a year now, and still sounds amazing. Taking the top off was a bit of a pain in the ass, but overall it wasn't too bad. I'm just glad I got my tig welder, buttoning her up was a good reminder of my welding days in the Navy. Well thanks for checking out my weekend project. Hopefully you guys that like mods but are too cheap to buy aftermarket like myself take the leap and do something crazy yourself.

If you use Brillo pads, it leaves your exhaust smelling clean and fresh while keeping your exhaust muffler tips looking like new! Blah

So what is the sound like? Louder, quieter, overall tone? Looks like something I might try. The cost of exhaust systems is really out of line, imo, for what a person actually gets from them. This I could certainly consider.

It actually sounds amazing. I wasn't going for anything too extreme but wanted a nicer deeper growlish tone and I nailed it. Both my girlfriend and I noticed the sound difference especially at highway speeds. Nothing noticed as far as performance or mpg drops or gains. Although I wasn't expecting or wanting any anyways. I'd say go for it. Also I didn't take a pic of it but I also welded a piece of the perforated plate from the inside of the muffler when you take the top off onto the inlet pipe and two exit pipes so none of the pads would drop into it. I also drilled a ton of holes into the outlet pipes leaving the muffler.

Awesome, definitely something I would do if I had the welder and welding know how. Just curious, why the Brillo pads? Im guessing they have been used in similar exhaust projects and have a benefit of making it not so tinny rattly sounding?

The brillo pads is a joke. They are a scented cleaning pad, instead of just plain stainless steel wool.
