My bike has done 26000km and for some reason the side stand switch decided to stop working.

I have not even looked at it yet but any suggestions before I do, would be welcome.

If you have WD-40 available to you, locate the side stand switch, and soak the plunger mechanism, and repeatedly 'cycle' it through it's range of motion. Don't whack on it too hard... but make sure to work the lubrication into the fixture. Normally, these switches get gummed up from road grime over time.

Try light machine oil if you cannot get WD-40.
