This photo was taken last July, the day before I was to join my son, his father-in-law and his friend on a ride over the border and through the Cascades to Osoyoos. Unfortunately, I got word that my back surgery was scheduled just 3 days away, so they had to leave without me. :(
No worries...I'll be doing that ride this year!

September 08, at the entrance to the deplorably un-famous Nada Tunnel in KY, on my way to MotoGP.

Load out:
Tent, toiletries, and some clothes in the right pannier.
Sleeping bag, more clothes in left pannier.
Ground pad, ground cloth, tent poles rolled up and strapped to pillion.
Rain gear, electronics, and nutrition in tank bag.
Hydration + spare fleece worn on backpack.

During my visit to Italy in February, 2009, I was reminded of how many bikes there are there. 99% of them are equipped with Givi bags---including this FZ6 parked outside the main train station in Florence. Lots of female riders and, everybody, wears a helmet. And splitting lanes in the city: Obligatory! Probably a big reason why many ride since it's 300% faster to get around on a bike than sit with hands on the wheel. And oh, some of the cars aren't much bigger than a m/c(kinda fit in a m/c parking area)

Here is my picture. Last seasons ride to Germany. It was just a 2500 km ride but a nice one to the Schwartzwald. I drove around on the Hoghstasse a couple of times. That is a very nice road.
