Service intervals

In the UK our service intervals (atleast stated in my owners manual) is 6k miles minor service and 12k miles major service, 18k minor etc with Valve adjustment at 24k miles.

What is it in the USA and OZ etc? I wonder what yamahas reasons are if they different, as i keep seeing people on about their 16k service etc

Service every 10,000 Km / 6000 miles

Why the difference I have no idea, this is taken from FZ6 service manuals for respective models. I think it might be to do with emissions in california.
