Hey all. I searched the forum looking for a post about this but couldn't find anything.
In the interest of full disclosure I got the idea from this site - https://stoltecmoto.com/fz-09-braking-and-control-updates/
Parts list:
- R6 Master cylinder and reservoir
- R6 brake lever (FZ6 lever wont swap over)
- Brake Fluid Reservoir Bracket (see link below)
- fresh brake fluid
- new copper crush washers
- steel braided lines (optional)
To do this I had to to take off the the throttle assembly so I could slide the reservoir mount on. The install is all very straight forward - swap the brake cylinders and bleed the brakes.
The results? TBD - I'll let everyone know after my bike is put back together. Just wanted to show everyone how easy this swap is.
In theory, brake feel will be better and stopping power will improve due to increased cylinder bore size.
All in I spent $80. Got the master cylinder and reservoir from a local wrecker for $60 and the woodcraft bracket was $20 https://www.motosport.com/woodcraft-bar-mount-brake-reservoir-bracket. I already had an R6 lever from a previous purchase but you could probably pick one up from ebay for around $20.
some pics of before and after:
Let me know if anyone has any questions!
