I ran "me" on Progressive at 30/60/30, and 250/500/100. The difference was about $5.00. The fact it's my Tuono V4 probably didn't help the total number! $750 a year for liability. That's why I'm with Safeco, five bikes for $450.00 a year, full coverage.

Are you changing just the personal part or the uninsured too?

I changed both to the limits I specified.

Oh they will pay, some. Most health insurance has a high annual deductible so you may be stuck with $1,000 0r more right there if you end up riding in an ambulance for an ER and hospital stint. Most insurance also doesn't cover 100% after deductible is met. :spank:

I can handle a $1000 or $1500 deductible. It is the remainder I want them to pay for.

Just updated the main post with all my coverage combos with the two cheapest insurance companies

The latest Progressive quote sounds in line with what I just got for Atlanta. Try upping the liability to the next tier. Above 100/300/50. For me it didn't have any affect on the quote with Progressive.

Just did a quote with Rider Insurance. EXACT same limits and coverages I have with Progressive.

Rider $890/year

Progressive $205/year

GUYS IF YOU DON'T ASK FOR MEDICAL BENEFITS COVERAGE ANY STANDARD MOTORCYCLE POLICY WILL NOT COVER ANY OF YOUR MEDICAL BILLS SHOULD YOU CRASH AT YOUR OWN FAULT! MAKE SURE IF YOU CRASH THAT THERE WAS ANOTHER VEHICLE INVOLVED WHO FLED THE SCENE! A hit and run is considered an Uninsured motorist accident and your uninsured insurance should help pay your medical bills in that case.

Customer service reps at Progressive and Rider Insurance just confirmed this for me. They told me that your medical bills would have to be covered by your own health insurance so MAKE SURE your health insurance will cover you should you need medical attention while riding a motorcycle.
Be careful about reporting as a hit and run if it's not true. If you get caught, you can be brought up on fraud charges.

Boy, you guys pay very little compared to what we pay here in Saskatchewan. My bike will cost me 165 a month, and there are no options here. The government is also looking to increase our costs and add extra restrictions to all riders.

Yeah it seems like Canada in general is unusually cruel to you lot as far as cost goes, they really are adding insult to injury though with added restrictions AND cost :(

Tell me about it,

is that per year or month?

per year

there are multiple things affecting rates here
- years of driving without accident
- km/year
- vehicle hp
- age of the driver(s)
- location (garage, carport)
- area code

covered is:
- theft
- elemental damages(water, wind, etc.)
- animal-vehicle crash
- fire
- not-at-fault accident( obviously)

(2014 Thread)

These quotes are for the most basic level of insurance, which is what I get.

Current Insurance (Rider) wants $156.40 but here's the breakdown which includes competitor rates which I assume everyone else would find similarly comparable results (or rather ratios of price, company to company)

****If the coverage were to start April 27th, I'll update in a month or two to test a theory of mine****
1- Progressive: $120
...
and have a clean record as of a month ago.[/SIZE]

Sounds funny but true, try calling AAA and ask him to get you the maximum coverage.
currently you are looking at 15/30($15,000person/$30,000 accident), ask him to make it 100k/300k and ask for a quote.

Trust me, it happened with me.
AAA quoted me very less(North Carolina).
I have motorcycle license for 3 yrs in USA and 8 yrs Indian DL. Got my quote last month and I'll be 26 by this May, clean motorcycle records, 1 ticket from Car driving(will be removed this dec).
Geico asked for 2200$,
Progressive 1500$,
AAA(through Prog)-1051$(after giving Vin number and changing to NC-DL from CA-DL, 635$) per annum.
It includes 8$pa. road side assist (they'll do flat tires too)
If I hadn't called AAA, I would've purchased a Bicycle instead of Motorcycle.:D

Please explain what "basic level of coverage" means?

I just paid my 12-month premium with Progressive. It's down this year to $12.50/month or $150/year for the FZ6 with FULL coverage and 100/300/100 coverages with $250 deductibles on comp/collision

150$per year, that's peanuts..!
How many years DL history one should have in order to get that low price?

I've had a driver's license for 20 years now with a clean record and +5 positive points for driving for 5 years with no traffic citations.

Being over age 30 with a clean record helps. My rate is also reduced because I'm married. Also if you do not live in a major metro area you will have a lower rate. The town I live in only has 17,000 residents. If you live in a big city your rate will be higher for that reason.
