A pair of bolt cutters would have been a lot cheaper than a helmet.

Just sayin'.

true, I have tools that could cut the lock and I had offers to cut the lock but both of those options involved ten minutes of highway riding with no lid, which is also illegal here. I wouldn't mind adding bolt cutters to my list of tools but it happened late at night so there were no stores open here to get a bolt cutter either.

My 08 has a helmet lock - keyed to the ignition key.

Must have been a standard item in Aus as we all have them

Lock or no lock, you should always take your helmet with you.

I wholeheartedly agree!

My helmet could potentially mean life or death - when I'm out, I don't let it out of my sight.

Leave it locked and some kid comes and tried to pull it off the bike, or damages it in some other way, that you don't notice.

You have a crash, and your helmet comes off. No more open casket.....

Cheers,
Rick

A friend of mine got his helmet pissed in while we were eating at a restaurant one night. They even turned it so it wouldn't drain out before he got back.

I'd be SERIOUSLY pissed off if this happened to me, and if I'd put the helmet on without checking it, you could say I'd have also been pissed on!

Just another reason not to leave it behind.

Cheers,
Rick
