Good to hear. I'm def getting the TB exhaust on in a few months. I've only had the FZ for a month so I'll enjoy the change in exhaust more by then.
Where do SD FZ members usually ride?

Just asking to see if there are other Southern SD FZ riders. I've been doing the Otay Lakes Rd. to 94 East route and have yet to see one FZ6. Shoot me a PM when you guys have another run. :D

We ride out that way every so often. We take 94 all the way out to Jacumba, then usually head back west on the 8, stop the the Golden Acorn casino for eats! :D

I have ridden the TB exhaust for 2 years now, and my neighbor has TB on his R6.

At idle / low RPM, you will hear a low rumble just loud enough rumble through the house. We live in an apt where my bedroom is 30-40 feet (10 meters) from the drive. I can hear his R6 when he rides by, but if he goes by it's no big deal. I think the key is try to be respectful. Yes it's loud, but you can be cool about it...like he and I are.

Don't idle for long periods when people are likely to be sleeping.
Don't rev or ride at high RPM near the house.

Basically, just use common sense and go for it.
Sound is breathtakingly beautiful.

As for the tips...
Last summer I took mine out. They reduce sound by a hardly noticeable amount.
Per HowStuffWorks "What is a decibel and how is it measured?", the sound reduction is less than the difference between silence and a whisper...not much.
I have the blue ones on a blue 2009, and it looks sharp.
Although...the big hole looks sexy too. Personal preference.

As for being deaf...when riding on the interstate, the wind noise is so loud in HJC helmet, I can hardly hear the TB.
Would think expect hearing damage from that before the exhaust.
Riding around town, they are loud, but no obnoxious...below 5k. Get up around 10k and you have everyone's attention.

I seem to remember someone saying that increasing the sound by 6db is either a 100% or 50% increase, so it increases exponentially.
Some tips aren't all that effective though.
Also have to keep in mind that you hear alot less of your exhaust than people behind you, and the wind will always drown out almost anything else if your moving fast.

Ok I know I am going to hijack this for a quick TB question not related to sound.:hijack:

So my question is do I need to purchase the Two bros F/E kit or can I use a cheaper F/E kit with those pipes? I am buying the pipes used and they are not coming with the F/E kit and I don't really want to shell out about $130 for it. Has anyone done them with a different F/E kit? How did it work what where some of the complications?

TB FE is not only used to hold the turn signals and licence plate, the clamps that hold the pipes are atached to it, so I'd say you need it.

Haha, Maybe you can find a used one somewhere? Either way you'll be happy when you get it installed!

My FZ want a TB too!

It's an awesome exhuast. You guys will love it. Just be prepared. These things are LOUD without the silencers! I love the sound without them, but when I warm the bike up, I have to muffle the outlets with my fingers to keep the noise down. Otherwise I'd probably wake the whole complex!

I can't wait to take them for a ride. Installation is almost completed, right now I'm waiting for the turn signal plugs (didn't want to cut oem wires), and a good weather.

My Two Brothers (non-carbon) sounds amazing! Prior to the FZ-6, I rode a 2000 R6 with a carbon MIG high-mount pipe and the TB sounds far superior. The best part about it, the sound is so mean, you don’t picture it coming from an FZ-6.

I ride with ear plugs so for me, louder the better. Louder = safer!

Just put mine on yesterday. Put it this way: the 6 pages of folk saying "Yeah, they're loud" isn't enough to emphasize how loud they are. I started it with no exhaust before putting on the TB, and the volume wasn't reduced much at all with the exhaust on, they just enhanced the tone.

I didn't end up heading home until late last night and was trying to go easy through the neighborhood with it being 1am and there's just no keeping these things quiet at all unless you're just completely off the throttle.

I will be picking up some P1X's. The wide open, riced-out Honda civic sound is not my thing when I'm babying the throttle and shifting @ 4k.

Thought I'd throw my 2 cents in real quick...

My FZ came with the TB Carbon pipes already on them, HOLY CRAP. These things are as loud as everyone says!! They look and sound great, though... I'm thinking about getting some of the dB killers, as I live in an apartment complex and work evenings, sometimes pulling in as late as 1:30-2 AM.

I do my best the feather the clutch and keep my revs down, and I coast into my parking spot with the engine off, but I'm sure they all wish I had my Wee-Strom back. That thing sounded like a sewing machine!! :spank:

Haven't had anyone complain to me yet, but I'm sure they notice it. I won't get rid of them, though. They look absolutely sick and I love that roar when you crack the throttle in 3rd and 4th gear. Gets cagers' attention for sure!! :Flip:

One thing that surprised me though, these things stay relatively cool even after abusing the throttle on the highway. I was concerned about their heat because I want to pick up some soft luggage, but it looks like I should be good to go.

In short, Two Brothers =:thumbup:

Yeah, i sometimes pull into the driveway in the early hours....i have got good at shutting off the bike at the end of the street, and rolling the last 50-100 metres into my shed....

and your right, they dont get that hot....i noticed this when i put my OEM exhaust back on other FZ6, the seat gets much warmer, with the OEM exhaust, than it does with the TB's.
