I`ve come full circle.
Had an FZ6-S as my first step up bike, 4 years ago.
Sold it and regretted it ever since.
My road registered bike is now a K1 GSX-R 1000.. uncomfortable as ****, but crazy awesome power.
6 months ago I purchased a race ready, 2006 FZ6-N, Ex - Yamaha cup, minus the pimp suspension bits , and began competing at our local track, after attending monthly ride days for the last few years.
I`ve had it in about a dozen races now, and was becoming more confident and competitive in my class.
Got a bit of the red mist, gunning for 2nd place and powered up too early into the sweeper coming out of the back straight and felt my back end let go.
Before I knew it i was big Superman through the air.
Slammed out, slid down the track, nearly got run over by a cuppla following bikes, but hobbled away with nothing broken.
All I can say is that leather is awesome... Saved my ass. Wear it!
Road or racetrack, shouldn`t matter, don`t care. Put it on cos it works!
The bike however.... not so saved....
Apparently it was cartwheeling 6ft in the air just behind me.
Wrote the front end off, cooked the rear sub frame and exhaust, smashed up all the fairings and clip ons, frame sliders saved the donk, but yeah... didn`t take home any chocolates.
After stripping off the mangled bits, it doesn`t look too bad really.
The main frame around the engine is still straight, the swing-arm appears to measure up straight, and I`ve been reading about the `03 R6 fork swap.
I`ve sourced the forks, calipers and axle but have read about this elusive Dako81(?) fella around these forums that may have a spacer kit available?
Anyone know of this mystery Jedi?
Anyways, yeah nah, good chat
Stay upright homies.
