High Mileage FZ6's

My 07 is quickly approaching 20k miles. (bought in Dec of 07, so a year and a half so far)

Still runs like new!

Why do you ask?

I also had a Yamaha YZF600R before this one that i traded in with 32K on it and it also still ran like new. Nothing but basic maintenance to either bike.

Yamaha makes some of the most durable, worry free engines out there!

My FZ6 will tomorrow be 2 years old. We have been together for 53000 km (33000 m) now and we are still going strong.

A couple of reasons.

First, there is an older Honda (sport bike) that I park near at work with about 31K on the clock - the most I'd seen on a sport bike (since I started taking note the past couple of years). Much less than the big Hondas, Harleys and BMW's (my guess is that being a younger crowd, the sport bikes take more of a beating, and from some of the Utube stuff I've seen on this site, are involved in many more accidents).

Second, I'm turning 50 next year and will officially (but not in my heart) be an old fart with an AARP card and all the other accoutrements (love that word) that go along with it. I hope to sell the FZ and move on to a larger touring bike. I was curious as to when my 2007 FZ will really take a re-sale hit - I'm at 8K now.

Unfortunately the resale hit will be at about 10k miles since the people buying sport bikes perceive that as being high mileage for any sport bike, they do not seem to take into account what bike it is.

There was a guy on the kawi-forums that had 89k miles on a zx-10r which I always thought was just crazy for a bike like that

I,m coming up to 40,000 k's on my 05 .
My other bikes were all high mileage when I sold them. '76 z1000(180,000 k's) '86 GPZ1000rx(105,000 k's) and a '98 CBR600(101,000 k's)

No engine probs with any of them

It is all how you take care of them!

With proper engine oil and filter changes,it should provide at least 100,000km without any major problem.

Imagine. In the Netherlands all motorbike drivers have an average of no more than 4000 km (2500 m) a year. 100.000 km would take a lifetime.

i have an 08 i got in june of 08 barely got 1500 miles on it. Is that bad for the bike?
