There were not a whole lot of options. Honda's 599 and 919 were about it. The SV650 got upscaled of sorts and the naked version was scarce in the states.

FWIW, I read that the S1 was the #1 seller in the world for '05 and '06. Despite the joke of an instrument panel. Although it is mean of me to whine. When I have one I hardly ever use it. Shifting by ear since 1969.
The FZ -09 seems to be doing pretty good. I'm going to look at the FJ-09 as soon as there is one to look at.
