slightly stupid question..

I had a search but couldn't see the answer.

I've bought a set of sprockets and a chain to replace my existing ones.

I've also bought a new lock washer. The question is how do I fit it? I assumed I would fit it under the nut, and then bend it up to stop the bolt moving, but it already looks like it's pre-bent? How does that work then? Do I just tighten up the bolt and it will bend out the way? Do I fit it with the bent bit facing towards the sprocket or away?

I had a look in the service manual but I couldn't find anything, other than a brief mention in the engine removal section

It is "pre bent" just to show you where to bend it. Tighten the nut then grab a pair of pliers to grab those pre bent flanges and pull it towards the nut.

I'd give it a really good whack with a chisel in two places. Lost a front sprocket nut before that was torqued to spec, good thing I caught it before anything got damaged.

I do admit it didn't feel that tight when I torqued it on, took a 3ft breaker bar and some serious muscling to undo the original though

Hopefully the tab will keep it on
