Hi everyone,

Whilst I have my bike stripped & prepping it to do the head bearings, I figured I'd treat her to some new fork seals & oil whilst I have it all apart & out. Don't when it was last done, if ever.

Again I've watched some videos on the task & feel that it's not beyond my skill level (famous last words).

But I have a question;

In the videos that I've watched, the inner bushing is smacked into it's "seat" in the lower fork with a driver, or pieces of pipe etc etc. But, would it be easier to insert the upper bushing in it's "seat" first, before placing the stanchion & damper rod assembly into the lower fork, or is that an absolute NO NO?

Does the bushing close in/tighten slightly around the stanchion once it's "home" thus causing more trouble than it's worth if I were to try my idea?

Thanks in advance,

Matt
