Cold start, momentary tick from valve cover.

The flip side is you can't hear a tight valve until it burns! Then it's too late.


Any chance you have needle style vacuum gauge? Plug in to each sync port and verify needle fluctuations are in the same range. Obviously to little restriction and needle swings violently. Too much restriction and ots rock steady... find something in the middle.

Assuming one keeps the gauge and records the data at xxxx rpm, you can use it as indicator of change.
 
It didn't tick today and even if it does, ticky is loose, not tight.

I have a commercial grade Mity Vac brake bleeder (which can be separated for vacuum testing) but I don't know how that would re-act with the engine.

I also have my Morgan carb tune and last time I synced (been awhile) all cylinders behaved about the same. Once the sync starts to go out, even a little, I get a vib thru the right side of the seat (quite annoying) but its been smooth and running like a top...

I'll order the shims and side cover gasket get to it if it keeps up.

It seems like it has to be pretty chilly outside for it to do it. This time of the year, down here, it ain't chilly!
