Taking the first, really easy step, to blacking out the bike. Used some satin finish paint, did the bolts as well. I am fairly pleased with the outcome. Next, the rearsets. Gonna be hard to take the riding time away for it though =)

Wont the clear coat make it more glossy? I put 3 coats of black primer, then 3 coats of the satin black.

Working on my next step, blacking out the rearsets, levers and bolts included. Laying on the black primer atm, then some satin black, followed by a nice clear coat. Gonna be out of riding for a good week to make sure they have time to cure, but can't wait for the finished product!

Nice! I really need to do this. The rearsets are the only thing that are still silver on my bike other than the forks and rear sprocket. haha, I want ALL black!

By the way, how hard was it to remove everything for the rearsets?

Don't forget the easiest black out project on the bike.

Electrical tape over the VIN sticker.

The black paint is krylon satin black, and I sprayed some clear coat over it. The rearset itself, I am using the universal black metalic with some clear coat over it. Doesn't match the frame on my 07, but looks pretty decent. Thinking of painting the healguard inserts a metalic red now...

Well, they are done! I like the look, deffinately nicer than the silver. The rearsets are fairly easy to take off. The only part I found difficult was the cotter pins, and they weren't even too awful bad. Here are the pictures of the outcome!

Looks great!! This is gonna be my next project. Now that it's hot enough that I can't ride every day, I think I'll have time to do it.
