hi everyone

I Have a 2008 navy blue FZ6. Im new to riding, I've taken a motorcycle training course, and am planning on taking another. I purchased the bike in July and haven't really rode much due to the fact most insurance companies want to bend me over for about $10,000. :Flip: So I've put the bike away extremely early for winter and probably wont be able ride legally until May 2010 (my driver's abstract will be clean).

I've just ordered T rex frame sliders, and am planning on few modifications for nex year:
Twin Brothers ,akrapovic or m4's exhaust (any recommendations)
Clear LED tail light indicator
Dual Headlight (possibly try someone's instructions from this site)
LED turn indicators
Smaller brake and cluth levers
Belly pan
removing those ugly decals
smoked windscreen

$10,000 for insurance:eek:

Either your driving record really sucks, or your insurance company computed something wrong. I'd be checking with some other insurance companies before parking your bike for the season.

I deal with Heather Solie at State farm in Milton.I Have a 2005 fz6 with just PLPD and fire andd theft.81 dollars a month. They rate by CC only so it doesnt matter if its a touring, sport, supersport or what have you.I'm 39 and clean record but my wife is 28 with a collision claim(on our van)and she only pays 52 a month for a 2009 ninja 250r,smae coverage as above(on my my bike).Unless you have a horrible record they can probably help you.I live in Sudbury so it doesnt matter where you live. All the final paperwork comes uot of the main branch in Aurora.

First, slow down and stop getting tickets... Try Rider's Plus or someone who will write you with Jevco. State Farm will also write you. If you are seriously getting quotes of $10,000, your driver's licence must be in trouble. The best thing you can do (especially if you are very young) is to NOT GET TICKETS or any accidents... or else pay the price with outrageous insurance. Get with a bike insurance company like Jevo and get through the first year clean. Then your rates will start to drop dramatically...

Ride safe

I have full coverage with State Farm and pay around $330 per year for my 2008 FZ6. I'm 28 and have no tickets on my record. Something is wrong when the insurance policy costs more than the bike is worth.

He's Canadian...free health care, but their auto insurance is horrible.

You can do much better... I pay $625/per year with the same coverage as you... I am with Jevo (Southland Insurance brokers)... This is for my '08 V-strom (650cc) my former '07 FZ6 had the same premium ($625)....

It depends on the area... Ontario (especially big cities like Toronto) is heavy for insurance. I live in a small town near Toronto, and I have decent insurance... I was getting full coverage for my '07 FZ6 for $690/year... that was last year. Other areas of the country are much more reasonable... Young people get screwed until they show insurance companies they are not a huge risk...

I called a Statefarm office and they told me they couldn't insure me till May 2010, and TDinsurance told me not to even bother calling for the next 3 years.

If someone can find a company that can insure me for cheaper than about $9300 i'd be surprised.

yikes, that was a bad couple of years....I'd consider moving to another
jurisdiction or just walking with a record like that, I can't say I blame the
Insurance Co's...sorry to be blunt, but you look on paper like a guaranteed
claim magnet

Yes, park it, clean up that driving record, and then...Enjoy and Ride Safe.

As far as exhaust goes, you won't get much of a horsepower increase from any of them, so...price, looks and your noise tolerance level should probably be your guiding factors.

The bike has already been put away for the year, and going to be parked there till May 2010, when possibly my Offence & Convictions dates clear from my 3 year abstract.

Make sure you get at least theft and fire insurance. I know in the US, homeowner's insurance will not cover any vehicle (car, bike, boat, atv, etc) because you can get separate policies for them.
