The motorcycle still runs fine without the gauge cluster, but I have no headlights after the wreck.
I removed the front fairing and gauge cluster as they are both total loss.
The front wiring harness is intact and not damaged in any way.
The blinkers horn and hazard all still function.
I have checked all fuses and they all test fine. I even replaced them.
I have checked the ground side of both headlight plugs and they are grounded.
Does the head light relay run through the gauge cluster??
I am stuck here without wiring diagrams.
Thanks

The engine must be running for the headlamps to come on. The headlamps get current through the headlamp relay. That relay is operated through the ECU. When the key is turned on current is sent to the relay coil. The other side of the coil gets it's ground through the ECU once the ECU senses the engine is running. :)

Several years ago I wrecked my fizz and did this exact thing. I was so frustrated and just sorta said screw it I want to ride it...magically my headlights came on. Needless to say I haven't forgotten since...lol

Easy to forget especially when you're dealing with other stuff. :D

It's actually a great feature because it affords you more cranking power because the headlight/s are not using that extra 55 to 120 watts before the engine has started.
My Zook headlamps come on but turn off during the starter cycle and come back on when the starter button is released. I like the Yamaha design better because it is even more efficient and I may mod the Zook to work the same way. :)
