What's cool about aluminum is it's rust resistance. Not a big deal for sunday drivers but I guess that 15-20 year old steel bikes in places like UK tend to rust at some point.
I prefer the look of the Empulse by far but zero has a better technology. If prices go down I might pull the trigger, but if I only make 5-10k km/year it's not worth it, and since I live in town and winter lasts 6 months in Canada, I'm not really likely to do more than that.

I come back from a trip in eastern Canada and it's crazy how almost 100% of the motorcycle travelers (aside from goldwing baby boomers) have a BMW f something or rg, as if it was illegal to make long distances with a Japanese bike

5l/100km (47mpg) these days, lots of highway around 110-115kph. 6-6,5 around town or if I twist the throttle more.
I hit the f-trip at precisely 265km on the last 2 tanks
I'm happy with that, my old fzr250 would give similar numbers but with half the power.
