    Chain Slack

    My chain is set between 45-55mm , or 1.77-2.17" , as Yamaha recommends and it doesn't look too slack once the bike is sitting on the ground . The bike went through it's yearly test a couple of days ago with no mention of the chain , but the chain was brand new if it makes any difference . The...

    It must be spring

    Cool :thumbup: What is a realistic topspeed for a grom ? Will they hold 60mph easily enough on flat roads ? I know head winds and hills will slow them down abit . i used to have a Honda C90 , fun little bike , loved the light weight of it . But in full tuck position it only did 52mph and...

    It must be spring

    I'm so tempted for buying a grom, they look like a lot of fun , just never seen one" in the flesh " as it were .

    ~~~ What did you do to your Bike Today Thread??? ~~~
    Took off the swing arm to regrease the bearings and give a general tidy up .With the chain off and a good look at the sprockets have reviled they arn't in such a good condition I first thought. I think its the original chain and sprockets still on the bike with nearly 31,000 miles on them ...
    PR4 feeling heavy ??
    The old back tyre was cupped a bit , so maybe having a new tyre seems to be heavier now . But after a couple of hours running around the bike does feel a lot better in the corners :thumbup:
    PR4 feeling heavy ??
    Just got a pair of Michelin Pilot Road 4 on the FZ6 and happy with them , but just wondering if it's just me or do any other PR4 owners feel them to be a bit heavy when going into corners ? Seems like the bike leans to a certain point then feels heavy/ more of an effort to lean the bike any...
    Charging problems
    The voltmeter is a bit of a cheapy to be honest , only seems to go down to 00.0 instead of 00.00 given a more accurate reading . Held the lead tips together and it was reading 00.1 ,but still at the high end.
    Charging problems
    Went to fire up the bike last weekend but there was no life , so just thought the old battery had died as I have no idea how old it was . Put on a new battery and she fired up no problems . Being a nice day I went out for a run and after a while noticed the orange engine light came on ...
    30k and beating strong
    My bike is just shy of 27,000 miles just now , but should be 30,000 this year bearing in mind she's not an everyday used bike . Since we're talking about valves , mine were done at 26,000 and were with in spec . When should they be checked again ?
    question about fork bushes
    I will get some miles on her and do a re-measure . Am I right in thinking you did a thread showing how to take the measurements by recording with a camera , or am I just making stuff up ?
    question about fork bushes
    So it's mid March now and the weather has been half decent for a bot of a run on the bike with her new springs. I would say for normal riding the bike is smoother , soaking up the bumps better than the old springs . But it has been 5 or 6 months since the last run . I can say for sure the...
    question about fork bushes
    I use the race tech spring rate calculator and it came up with 0.824 and 0.85 was the closest so I went for that . Probably should have said the fuel tank is completely full( laid up for winter with fuel stabiliser ) so that's adding more weight , maybe when the tank is half full/half empty...
    question about fork bushes
    That made a lot more sense , so I cut another pair of tubes that ended up just about flush with the top of the tube. Did another batch of measurements and ended up with, Unladen bike push down 112mm lift up 116mm Laden bike push down 101mm...
    question about fork bushes
    Had a quick look , and the washer is 4mm , nearly 5 mm down the tube , so probably 13-12 mm of preload.
