    Engine surging

You guys are motivating me to start diagnosing my FZ6. Last fall when I went to give it a ride and fill it with fuel and stabilizer for the winter, it developed a miss once it warmed up, and actually stalled on me. Sadly, I only rode about 150 miles last year (maybe less), and although I had...

    2004 fz6

I'm not going to be of much help since I don't know where to get one these days. But, I wanted to say that I have one installed on my 2004 FZ6 and it's pretty awesome. Awesome looking and sounds good too.

    FZ6 S2, front fairing on S1?

I'd like to put a S2 style windscreen setup on my S1, to see if that would cure the buffeting. It's driven me crazy since I bought this FZ6 new in 2004 and I've tried three windscreens already. (Stock, Tall Yamaha, and Puig which I have now.) The horrible wind noise and buffeting is the...

not new, but it has been a while.

Which items are you referring to on that diagram? #2 and #7 ? I'm not sure what the spacers are that could be backwards or reversed. So, I printed out the picture, went out to my garage to put the page in the factory manual, and found the same picture that I had printed out years ago...

not new, but it has been a while.

Thanks for the link Gary! That is definitely a better picture than what is in the factory service manual that I have. He has a third party repair manual (Clymer maybe?) , but it has even less. I'll print out a picture of that front end diagram to bring out to the garage and hopefully take a...

not new, but it has been a while.

I too have a Gold Wing in my garage, but it's a bit older than the ones you guys have. I got my dad's 1977 GL1000 Gold Wing from him a couple of years ago, when he stopped riding at 87 years old! He bought the bike new in 1977. I grew up riding on the back of that bike when I was a kid, so I...

    Question 2004 headlight mod?

I wish that it made a world of difference for my 2004.... I bought my 2004 new in 2004, and have had the stock, the tall Yamaha, and now the Puig windscreen. The buffeting from the stock windscreen was bad, but the tall Yamaha windscreen was even worse! The Puig is better, but the buffeting is...

Question Has anyone solved the buffeting / wind noise problem (2004-2006)

So, I bought my FZ6 new in 2004 (the faster silver), and since day one, the buffeting and wind noise problem has driven me crazy. I had the stock windscreen, tried the tall Yamaha windscreen and now have the Puig, but none of them are good. Actually, the tall Yamaha one was horrible, with...

    2006 exhaust super stinky

My 04 stinks badly also, but I have a strange feeling it may have something to do with the cat bypass pipe I installed with the quad exhaust..... :)

Loading a bike into a tuck or trailer

I agree. That's the standard feel of the FZ6 clutch.... Now that I didn't know about! I've been out of the FZ6 scene for a while, and I remember somebody that used to customize the stock lower lever via welding. Great to hear there's a stock lever we can buy. I will have to look into...

Always sad to see one leave. Even if it was the slower blue version. ;)

Bi-Xenon projector with angel eye installed

My el-cheapo eBay projectors still work fine after a few years, but I barely ride my FZ6 any more... One of my high-low beam shutters is a bit sticky, but it eventually cooperates. I do need to adjust both projectors to point a bit to the outside, since the light spread is less than optimal...

Clutch Slave Levers - I'm making them again

When I got my motorcycle inspected back in June, the mechanic was treating me like a newb. He said, "Your clutch lever is adjusted badly, do you want me to work on it for you?" I'm like "No, it's fine and you can't do much anyways without moving the collar a spline down on the motor. I've...

I'm back from my cross country trip: Act V

Another awesome trip! Thanks for sharing your ride report again! I haven't taken a long motorcycle trip in 20+ years and I've never taken one on my FZ6, nor have I ridden cross country, so I enjoy seeing your trips. As I mentioned on the other forum, I look forward to reading about you...

For sale: 2007 Yamaha FZ1 - Central NJ

I feel old. I don't come to the forum much any more, but I clearly recall when Erci first bought the FZ1... Cool about the FJR though. It does seem well suited for 2up and long trips.

Clutch Slave Levers - I'm making them again

This is one of the few mods that I never did for my 2004 FZ6. If you go about doing another run, count me in. (Yeah my old FZ6 website is down, probably permanently.)

    Lefty is still alive!

Glad to hear that you're still around and have retired for the good life! I look forward to that someday if it ever happens.... I sadly haven't ridden my 2004 FZ6 once this year yet. I took it out of the garage and ran it, but haven't been out riding. Life happens. Rode less than 500...

LED Panel & Arduino instrument cluster

K-line serial data I have to agree that using the K-line serial data would likely be the best option, as you'll be able to extract all kinds of stuff. This guy has done some neat stuff: Motorcycle black box. Part 1 : data acquisition with Arduino Mega. | Iwasz So, it looks like there are...

Remote reservoir mounting for YA 543 Ohlins

I'm finally getting around to installing the used YA 543 Ohlins that I picked up for my 2004 FZ6 a few months ago, and I was wondering if anyone had some good pictures of the reservoir mounted on their 2004-2006 FZ6? I'm changing the rear tire and since everything was out, I was able to swap...
