what is the highest mileage on an fz6? year doesnt matter, but it does have to be an fz not an fzr. I dont have nearly enough but i wanted to know.

Gosling is pretty damn hard core. He has true dual exhaust on his bike too.

On a mellow ride - no quick starts and short shifting (and if I did my math correctly) I got 53mpg. Oh, total mileage, not gas mileage... I'm not sure. A guy at work had a BMW K1 he put over 180,000 miles on. That's what I'm shooting for.

Mines on a 56 plate and i've topped 21K miles, used most days all year round.
Just done a 603 mile day to London and back for a job interview.

I have 2006 FZ6, stock with 63K on it now. Never had any engine work done. No valve adjust nothing. Just sprocket, chain, oil changes every 4k. I drive 110 miles a day rain or shine. I want to break 78K by the end of the year. Don't ever get your engine worked on unless you are having issues starting the bike. I have been riding bikes since I was 3yrs old and have 20yrs on street bikes.

It would seem these engines will last forever... How about the chassis? Have you had to replace any parts like swingarm, wheel or steering bearings... Or at least maintanence on them?

So when it mentions valve adjustments at 26k, don't bother with it?

You don't have to adjust the valves(use shims) every 26k, you just have to check them to see if you actually need to.

Most people report that their valves at 26k were well within spec and required no shimming. So you should still check, just in case.

I asked the local yamaha dealer how much they charge to check them and they said 3 hours of labor, or $240. Shimming is extra parts/labor.

I just bought a 2006 model with 59,000 mls. Very well looked after.
Engine sounds/pulls perfect.

I think greatzippy @ SBN is the undisputed leader. He bought his 06 brand new and had 73K in last October itself.

Mines an '06, bought brand new in April of '07 and I have over 85,000 miles on my bike.

I had my valves checked for the first time at 73k miles about 9 months ago by the dealership and mostly were within specs, but a few of them needing some minor adjustments, maybe one might have been a bit off.
