This doesn't make any sense really. I consistently get 35-36mpg on my FZ1, but on the last loaded 2-up ride I went 146.7 miles without indicator even blinking! Refill was 3.626 gallons, which means I averaged 40.7!!!
You'd think MPG would be lower with passenger and cargo :don'tknow:
Lots of miles were at 75mph too..
Not complaining.. just think it's weird.. and awesome :D
(I'm sure summer guess is part of better range, but I've never gotten such a good number before)

I don't know. I usually get 40 or so mpg, and the last two tanks were well over 45 mpg. I haven't changed my riding habits or done any recent maintenance on the bike. It's weird that way sometimes. Maybe it was 'cause I just rolled over 20k on the odo?

Different machine but possibly the same reasoning. My Nissan Pathfinder averages 16-17mpg on normal trips.. Highway etc. I get closer to 19-20mpg when I tow our 3500lb popup camper. It's counterintuitive at first, but it's all about driving style. My inputs are much smoother with trailer in tow. I use the brakes less. I don't downshift to maintain speed up mountains.. I just roll. I wish I could make myself drive that way always.

Im just jealous you got 146 LOL. on the sv my light blinks after about 100 miles. I could probably go further but i dont like pushing a heavy bike ahhaha. I still get a consistent 36-40mpg or so but i fill up frequently.

FZ1 tank is 4.8g. How big is the one on SV?
