....and as a bonus it reminds me of the recent occurences in Sudan. If our non-UK friends don't know about it then:
An English teacher went to help the children of Sudan by teaching in a school over there. She was very successful and loved by the children. One day she brought a teddy bear into school and asked the children to vote for a name for it.
The children (7 year olds) voted for the name Mohammed which is a popular name for boys in Sudan.
Unfortunately that is also the name of the Muslim prophet. It is against the law to give the name of the prophet to an object.
The law said she should get 40 lashes. She actually got 15 days jail. Pretty leniant by the standards of sharia law. People took to the streets saying she was part of a western plot and should be killed.
After, I think, a week the UK government succesfully intervened and she got a full pardon and was returned home to the UK.
