Does anyone have a clue what this thing is? It looks like it has potential to be a mini dredge of some sort, but its bound by depth on a tiny man made reservoir on a river with a spill way. This lake a pretty shallow in spots with lots of stumps. Way down stream past its spillway is a small hydo plant but this will never go there. Notice those ports that you see along the sides? They appear to go through the hull... but I could be mistaken there.

PS - No public access for better pictures, so thats as close as you get. The river is pretty narrow like maybe 0.5 miles wide by ~1.5 miles long (wild guess, I don't know).

Perhaps to remove sediment from the bottom??? Thoughts?

Sky view of the river/lake its on. There are log booms across it ahead of the spill way. Kinda fun to walk across the river on a log!

Is this is it? A "surface collector" to help fish through the dam. Did a google search for "north fork oregon construction" then "north fork oregon surface collector"

“The surface collector will float on the surface of North Fork Reservoir above the North Fork Dam, and will use pumps to create a surface current that will attract downstream migrating juvenile fish into a large V-screen where they will be safely captured in a transport pipe and conveyed through the dam to enter a newly-completed downstream fish pipe and safely travel seven miles to the River Mill Dam tailrace, where they’ll be released to continue their migration downstream,”

EDIT: haha. another forum had a thread with the same question and links to answer. https://www.trailadvocate.org/?page_id=379/trail-reports/what-the-heck-is-it

You hit the nail on the head! A giant Fish Pump! Who knew? And this is safer than going through a turbine!

How cool!
I was trying to figure out what it was, kinda looked like a dry dock for boats.
Good job on finding out what it is:thumbup:

Cool, thanks!

With all the dams there, my first thought was that it is a pump station for something like this: https://www.dom.com/about/stations/hydro/bath-county-pumped-storage-station.jsp

I visited a similar facility in Scotland, once upon a time. Impressive engineering. Cruachan Power Station - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Most of the "better" rides in these parts follow rivers and two locations I ride through have had dams removed in the past 7 years. Its really remarkable to see change allowing the fish to travel freely.

Here is one they documented. Removing Marmot dam. Classroom guesstimates were months for mother nature to dissolve a man made temporary dam. It was over in 24hrs... Marmot Dam removal video

EDIT: some of the many dams in this state.. https://www.google.com/search?q=ore...fferson%2Fmarmot-dam-removal-video%2F;512;288
