I'm the only person I know of who did it to an FZ6.

The day I sold it:

I loved it. Working on a custom streetfighter FZ1 now!

That bellypan looks huge.
What brand is it?

Not sure, came with the bike. I like it as naked as possible, so I just had it on there for the guy who bought it.

Even more sick: I'm using my stock FZ6 front end parts to make a custom front end for my FZ1. It will be mounted to the R1 forks. Custom is fun!

They are not the same. They do not share the same part number. They are slightly different. I haven't figured out what the difference is, but I am doing a retrofit on an FZ8 this weekend and have a spare FZ6R headlight laying around...I may see if I can figure out what is different.

I think the mounting is slightly different. Plus it has the Yamaha logo where the "parking light" is. The FZ6R does not have that.

DISCLAIMER this is a rough fit picture it is not done DISCLAIMER
I am working on this swap currently with all the plastic bits to go with it. Looking at doing a full "How I did it" thread when I am done with it.

I am going to undertake this too - I purchased a used headlamp and brackets.
I'd love to hear more about how you did it since I am about to start too!

Just to confirm, the mounting points are the same as the FZ6R. Actually the back half is the same. The clear lens, and surround are slightly different between the two headlights, but the mounting points are the same. The FZ8 uses different brackets than the FZ6R, but they have the same screw holes on the back.

Pardon my ignorance but what does that mean for a FZ6 install? Are there certain parts from the FZ6R we should look for?

Can someone take some pictures of the actual mount and how it attaches to the bike? I want something and have been looking at this; but have the question, how is the light output compared to stock faired FZ6 and what is the approximate cost?

I'm more apt to do a projector (none HID) and/or multi-projector but I haven't found anything I like.

Thanks!

I really want to get an fz8 headlight on my fz6. I have a friend at a dealership who can get me a good deal on the headlight assembly and any other factory parts, but I'm not really sure what I need. How are you guys mounting these headlights and your speedo? What brackets/mounting points are you using? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm starting to consider having some custom brackets fabricated, but I'd have to reverse engineer the front end of both bikes and then design whatever I needed which would be time consuming and costly... not to mention the guys at the dealership might look at me funny if I go in and start measuring the bikes on display. Anyone know of where to get cad files for these bikes?

I am in the middle of acquiring parts to do this -- For anyone with Naked experience, is it likely that I need a bracket from LeaN69 for the speedo?
