Many great suggestions, folks! ANYTHING you can do to make yourself more visible is a step in the right direction. From conspicuity type clothing\gear, bright helmet, lights, reflective material on the bike to lane positioning and movement. I too have a very dangerous left turn I make every...
Take a close look at the filament in the bulb. I've seen them fail in a manner that you've described with the brake filament shorting with the running lamp filament or vice versa. With both switches disconnected it's a short somewhere and the bulb is where I'd start.
Soup :: RIP: Racer Dane Westby :: 03-24-2015
Dane was an acquaintence. We shared a garage at the Grand National Championships around 2006. He went on to win many championships. He was one hell of a competitor who could never be counted out. A few weeks ago he rode his bicycle from...

While we're talking about dogs, after 50 yrs of riding I just discovered another hazard. I went home for lunch to let my puppy out. Not sure he's still a puppy. He's 1 yr old today and is about 100 lbs. German Shepherd. Well, I stepped in a pile of doggy poo and when I got back on the bike...

A little MotoGP crack for the younger one?
Let's hope it's not too soon. I can't handle another year watching the same rider win almost every race. Or, a Marquez winning every race! Maybe they should start racing 2 classes like Freddy Spencer? There are more records to be broken...

Also, Honda announced a street version of the RC213V. Not much details yet.
A picture is worth a thousand words. Yes, I think you've identified the problem. There's nothing else between the bike and the road. Your tires are the most important component. A few hundred dollars will save you possibly thousands. Good tires are a good investment.
Southern California and cold air? Just curious, how cold are we talking? It was 36F this morning for my ride in and I was pretty toasty with my Aerostitch and Gerbing jacket. If it gets really cold I'll do the balclava. I finally bought a new helmet with a pinlock shield this year and it is...
It's been many years since I've been to Rome, but a few years ago I used to travel to Venice every few months for work. Very nice and yes, they love their scooters. You see some pretty exotic ones everywhere. The parking lot where I worked would be about 1\4 full of just scooters. They do...
