Hey guys.
Well, it seems that my wrists and my knees are no longer a fan of my beloved FZ6, so it's time to let her go.
She has a few scuffs and dents from her prior owner, but nothing that has affected the handling. Plenty of rubber left on the Pilot Road 3's, and she just had a valve...
I have a set of the cheap Ebay mirrors with integrated turn signals. I've put up with them for the past few years, but I hate them with the fire of the thousand suns and I want them gone. The left side constantly buzzes and drops at speed, so I can never get a clear sight of what is around me in...
My husband and I just got back from a wet, muddy dualsport trip through the Black Hills in South Dakota. I can't quite afford or justify a Nuvi, so I planned on using my phone as a GPS. I have a Samsung Galaxy S3, and I picked up one of these from RevZilla.
Phoneshield Samsung Galaxy S3 Mount...
Further training courses are never a bad thing to invest in, IMO. I started riding about 10 years ago, and my husband has been riding for over 30 years. We all get a little lax, and probably develop some bad habits over time. A little refresher never hurts....
We happened upon one of Keith...
All great ideas, guys! Thanks for the suggestions! :D
Though, it's funny how thoughts seem to come about in dreams. I actually dreamt last night of the procedure of installing a new exhaust and remapping (did some research before bed)....and somewhere in the dream I came to the realization that...
I think I remember someone telling me long ago that it was a character of one of the earlier generations of EFI for Yamaha. It was less pronounced in a newer bike I test rode. However, I've had this bike for 3 years now, and it's one of those annoying quirks that just won't go away.
*sigh*
I...
So, I've been somewhat distracted over the past few years after getting my 2007 FZ6, got bored with street riding and started focusing more on dualsport/offroad riding.
After finally getting a pair of bikes that are supremely comfortable and fun to ride off-road, I feel like I can pay more...
Best of luck finding it...mine developed a clunk not long after I bought it, about 9000 miles. Didn't have a wobble on the forks while on the center stand, but still, after checking it I had a very loose steering head nut. Tightened it down with the spanner wrench, and the clunk disappeared...
No kidding. The few times I've taken my FZ6 on graded gravel have NOT been fun at all. The engine/trans/tire combo is simply not the best setup for offroad, no matter what tires you spoon on those wheels.
My little TW, or really ANY other dirt bike or adventure bike is way better suited for...
All good info to know...Thanks!
I was planning on ordering the All Balls roller bearings, since they seem to be the recommended type around here. I will need to find a decent drift, however. It'll be a good excuse to run over to Harbor Freight or Sears.
I've also been considering checking my...
Are you kidding? Spring and fall have the best riding weather! That's no time to have the bike torn apart in the middle of the garage! ;)
We've been meaning to insulate the garage for some time now, anyway. Riding season is nearly all year round for us, between owning fuel-injected bikes and...
Cool, thanks!
I need to see how he feels about kerosene heaters. The smaller one should work just fine, but he's terribly cautious when it comes to fire hazards. We have a small uninsulated city garage, enough space for 5 bikes and my small car, when everything is properly arranged.
Maybe...
Winter is coming up, and I'm honestly dreading tackling this project. Hell, I had a hard enough time trying to knock the fork seal out of my little TW's leaky fork....had to get the husband to help me out.
I know this is one project I can't avoid doing. The front end is clunky over bumps...
I have an 07, with the PLX360 side case racks, and they fit fine.
I happened to find a set of V35 cases on ebay for a steal for $100....And the PLX360 racks only fit those cases.
From what I can tell it looks like the PL351 racks are for the '04-'06 models, so there's gotta be a difference.
Even if I were off work, I'd avoid it like the plague. Far too much stupidity and unpredictability for me. Hell, between the weather forecast and potential police profiling, I'm considering taking the car to work this weekend instead.
Eeep! Glad that he's okay, but that sucks!! So glad to hear he was wearing gear, especially at his age....most kids don't.
Everytime I see gravel in a corner, I clench a bit...and gravel parking lots tend to elicit the same reaction.
On the TW, it's not really a problem, but I've had a few...
Keith Code!! That may have been where you had read about countersteering.
We happened to be at the Barber Museum one year when he was holding his superbike school out on the track....made me wish I had known about it further ahead of time. I've read a few of his books. The guy has a slew of...
Gah, bummer! I just bought a bunch of used parts for my TW in an attempt to do a drum-to-disc brake conversion....and bought a new tire for the FZ6. I bought mine with some road rash and damage on the front fairing. Same year, same color.
Sadly, I'm also out of play money for the time being. :(
I was in the same spot she is before my husband and I got married 7 years ago. Deep down, I always wanted to ride my own, but never had the opportunity. My husband had been riding for 20+ years before I met him (rode dirt bikes as a kid & never stopped). My father also used to race dirt-track...
Usually, yes....unless they open their mouth & promptly insert their boot. ;)
Heh. But that usually happens with the younger guys. Their egos tend to make them less attractive....kids these days.
