I fried the flasher relay on my 2007 FZ6 and need to replace it. Can I use a led flasher for the oem lights or do I have to have an oem flasher relay? If I need the oem one does anyone know where I can get one? I only see really overpriced ones on eBay. Thanks

Welcome to our great forum!
You can use an electronic flasher relay. https://www.superbrightleds.com/mor...ic-led-flasher-relays-for-motorcycle/787/842/

How do you know that it is the flasher relay that has failed?
Check to be sure you have your running light. It's on the same fuse as the flasher..

Well rookie mistake on my part, I’m converting the headlight and was trying to rewrite the blinkers when I shorted it and now they won’t turn on nor show up on the cluster. The fuse is intact and I tried a different fuse as well and it still didn’t work. My only thought is that it’s the flasher relay. Everything else works fine. Even the headlight. It’s just all four blinkers and the light on the cluster.

You have running/license plate lights?

The headlight circuit doesn't come on until the motor has been started.

If you have a stock FZ6 tail light it should light when you turn the key to the on position. If it's not lit then the filament in the tail lamp is broken or the fuse that powers the tail light is blown. That fuse also powers the flasher relay. Since the front directional lights also carry running lamp wire you may have shorted the running light circuit and blown the fuse. No running lamp power fuse equals no turn signal power. So if there is a shorted blue wire or blue with red tracer wire, it will continue to blow the fuse that powers the circuit. Since the flasher circuit did work I suspect that if you rewired the front directional lights you may have a shorted wire. Revisit the fuse box. If you find a blown fuse go to the wire you did at the direction lights and find the short.
Are your front directional lights stock or aftermarket.

As a matter of safe riding you want to know whether your lights work with each ride. Always check them unless your trying to get away real fast! Lol!

Sadly I’ve been working and haven’t had the time. Also had a hard time getting in contact with local bike stores. And can’t find a reasonably affordable flasher relay.

If it's a different problem and you don't need a new flasher relay, a new flasher relay will not solve the problem. If you do need a new flasher relay I posted this link previously in this thread and this is as cheap as it gets for one. https://www.superbrightleds.com/mor...ic-led-flasher-relays-for-motorcycle/787/842/
Can you tell me if you have a rear tail light when you turn the key on? I'm not talking about the brake light.. :)

@TimothyFz FYI I will personally vouch for SuperbrightLEDs. I have purchased many things from them, including the flasher relay listed above.

But most important, if you look at the wiring diagram it is clear that you need to look at the tail light fuse and wiring. A failure there describes all the issues you are currently having. Step 1 of solving the problem.... find the problem!

Hoping you get to the root cause and get back to normal.
