  • I should have tried that, was in class and decided to 'practice' my photoshop skills resizing the photos to post up.
I certainly do its I've found it great.
It fits straight onto the grab rails, and is an easy install. Its also easily removable and doesn't take a huge amount of time if you really dislike the mounting bracket.
Personally I went for the Yammy version because it was the nicest looking bracket and I never remove it. The topbox also has a neat locking mechanism (onto the bracket)!

The topbox holds two helmets snugly, or I can just fit in a helmet, and heavy duty gloves, textile pants and a heavy jacket, its a tight fit.
I've also carried anything from 5-15kg in there easily without issues, including a laptop inside a laptop bag for long trips (came out unscathed).

I've also found it really great that you can (as mentioned above) simply unlock the topbox from the bike with the key and take it into your motel/hotel/home/work etc with you. That being said the thing is pretty solid and I leave it on with stuff inside at work.

Its also proven 100% waterproof so far!
Hi Kris. You have the Yamaha top box right? What do you think of it? I'm probably ordering one this week. Does the mounting plate fit straight onto the grab rails? What sort of stuff can you put in there - weight wise?
To be blatantly honest i cant remember...has been a fair while since i have had the thing on the bike...and i am at home, and it is on top of the kitchen at the workshop! I cant even remember whether it required hex bolts, or tamper proof keys....sorry! :(
Hi. Wat do you think of the Yamaha screen? I am seriously thinking about one. Did it help cut the wind down? I have the same bike as you - Competition White IS the hottest colour, isn't it? It's about $330 from my local Yamaha dealer, but I don't like the after market ones as much.
