Living in northern new york means a short riding season, so I'm preparing to store my bike for the winter. The bike is almost due its next service, so my question is this...is it better to service the bike before or after storing for the winter? Or both?

I usually service before and after for deployments overseas cause its a year or longer, but the winter is just a couple months...what is best?

I asked my dealer the exact same thing. He would recommend service before winter. Overbooking in the start of the next season often also means waiting time for service.

not that i follow my own advice by any means, but if you service the bike before letting it sit for a long time it will not allow all the sediment in the fluids to settle and sludge up if you put in new fluids.

No sludge = good.
