Could someone please explain how to properly do a burn out before a run?
For example: street tire, use the h2o box or go around?
What gear and rpm etc. Thanks in advance!

Im not a professional but the one time i went to the strip i just went through the water box and did the burn out in first. I held it at about 6k and slipped the clutch out untill the wheel was spinning and i could let the clutch all the way out. On street tires a long burn out isnt really needed so once i had a little smoke i pulled the clutch in and rolled it up to the lights. The launch is going to just take practice untill you find a way that works for you.

I did some bracket racing with my Mustang, but that's alot different
than the motorcycles.
I do not think you really need a burnout with an FZ6, as traction is
not really the problem. Doing a big ass wheelie is the problem.
So most people slip the clutch to get off the line without flipping
over. That's where the practice is. Your body position, slipping
of the clutch, and starting line rpm.
An electric shifter would help too, with shift light. Once you figure
out how to launch and shift, it's just a matter of repeating that
procedure every time for consistancy.
Drag racing looks simple but there is actually alot there.

G'day mate. First up let me say I've only been once in my car but I've been told by a reliable source that they spray VHT on the track to make it sticky(in Adelaide at least) so in all honesty I reckon you'd be better off by passing the water and the track should be way stickier than the road:thumbup:. Also try to stay in the tire path area from the cars to avoid coolant and oil drops. Would love to hear how you go.
Cheers
Mike

Thanks all for the input. I'm thinking of trying a few runs and didn't
want to look to silly, like flipping over, or wheelying instead of a burnout.
The good thing about a full face helmet is people don't see hoe red faced
your when you screw up!
