I have a question about the chain protector.

I was looking at mine yesterday and was wondering about how long do these things last? They are plastic? Does the chain actually ride on it or is it more of a just in case (keep your chain properly adjusted and you should never have a problem)?

Mine is like new and its a 2006 bike with 13000km on it. I dont think the chain actually touches it. It is there as a guide to keep your fingers out I think.

I know the chain rides on mine on my off-road bike, but I haven't paid too much attention to the Fazer's. They will wear out eventually, but it can take a long time.

I talked to a guy at work who's had bikes for a long time, he said that they last for the life of the bike usually.

Thanks

i really didn't like the color or surface look so i went and had it painted the same color of my bike. The stock look just didn't do it for me. NOW i think it looks better.

It shouldn't ride on it while accelerating, but it would while decelerating.
