First pair of PR4s are on, and well run in. The front is at ~2000 miles old, the rear ~5700.

The good news: they run great wet or dry. Loads of confidence, good cornering, loads of "feel". At this age the rear looks roughly at half its lifespan, so that looks good. Slightly squared off, but plenty to go.

The bad news: they don't like the cold. For year rounders, it's worth noting. Down to near freezing I prefer the Contis I had before. Once the temperature drops, you can feel the front end tracking surface deformities and both ends feel vague.

Also, according to some reviews they're more susceptible to punctures. Which is why I've just dropped another £140 on a new tyre when the old one has loads of life left. Unfortunately wasn't repairable as the hole was too far from the centre line. Gutted.

I'll run this log as long as I'm using the tyres, give people information on tyre age etc.

(EDIT: for my future reference front on: 43000 rear on: 45000)

Blooming heck I had to scroll a long way through to find this. Longest I've ever gone without buying a new tyre.

So I've got 54100 on the bike, which puts the rear at just over 9000 miles old.

Very squared off. Cornering lately has been horrible. But there's been no loss of grip. Still getting slight issues in the cold, like I mentioned in the first post (my new commute puts a traffic light within 300yards of leaving work and it always spins up there). Other than that, the centre tread is well in to the wear bars, and very illegal, so a new one on this afternoon.

Just had the front tyre changed for MOT. 56,700 miles on the bike, making the front nearly 14,000 miles old. Checking the MOT milage history, that's a two year tyre! It maybe could have done another thousand miles, legally, but the wear bars were getting close, and standing water was becoming an issue (these things clear puddles like nothing else!).

My commute has reduced significantly, and gets split between two bikes now. The Yamaha has only done 5,500 miles this year (down from 18,000 2014-2015). So it's looking like I might be pushing for two year rears, and nearly three year fronts. A drastic difference from changing Continental tyres every six months! Lol

Thanks for the report. I'll be buying tires over the winter and the PR4's are at the top of my list. I'm a warm weather rider so I'm not too concerned with the cold weather performance. Not happy to see that they had squared off on you, but if your riding was primarily highway commuting than it's completely understandable.

I put on a set on my Multi last year, managed to get 8k miles on the front. It was worn pretty good. I always wear out my fronts first, even on the FZ. I still have the rear and it's at 9k miles. My bike weighs over 500 lbs and has 150hp so I'm definitely not getting the same miles as you guys.
