I know this has been asked very often (even stickied), but I still am not confident enough to open up my bike and bypass my switch even after looking at the last page of the sticky on this.

I am having the exact same problem as:
http://www.600riders.com/forum/fz6-electrical/48311-run-switch-faulty-3.html
and
http://www.600riders.com/forum/fz6-technical/37647-kill-switch-killed.html

and a mechanic has diagnosed my problem as a corroded kill switch. He cleaned them up and put dielectric grease on the contacts, so the bike has gone from completely non-operational to cutting out once in a while at low speeds.

I need to ride back to Los Angeles (350 miles) in three days, and I'd like the comfort of knowing that my bike wont crap out on me.

As such, I would really appreciate it someone could do a detailed writeup on how to do this or a video, which would be even better.
Thanks in advance for your help.

This link, especially towards the end explains it easily with pictures: http://www.600riders.com/forum/fz6-electrical/48311-run-switch-faulty-3.html

(1) Open up the throttle (3 screws underneath).

(2)Find the two wires that go to the kill switch(red wires).

(3) Cut them off the switch

(4) Connnect them together (preferably soldiering them for a permanent fix).

(5) Either heat shrink or put electrical tape over the new soldiered joint.

(6) Re-assemble WITHOUT stipping the threads.

Switch is now by-passed.

(7) test ride...
