hi all,my 2004 fz6 wont start even with a fully charged battery.charged it last night.just getting a clicking sound when starting.battery is a yuasa only about 3 months old.Bike will jump start.Im getting 13.9 volts when idling,14.2 volts at 5000rpm.is this normal?.Im thinking rectifier or stator.

Check voltage as you push start button. If voltage drops, the battery is defective....even new batteries can fail.
If the voltage remains at 12, check solenoid / starter.

+1 on the above

There's nothing wrong with your charging system, its performing as it should.

Most likely the battery(even thou its new as stated above).

When my battery started to fail, voltage dropped as low as 8 volts when cranking but still started. It would show 12+ volts sitting (not running). I suspect your voltage will drop much lower when pushing the starter button..

A load test at an automotive store/Walmart, etc can check the status of your battery...

Jump starting and then running (from a NON RUNNING CAR) is verifying your battery is BAD.. (don't jump start from a running car, it'll fry parts of your charging system)
