I have seen on three different sites where some folks use a SuperTech 7317 oil filter on their Fazers. (So far I have tried only Yamaha and Fram filters)
What is interesting is that the SuperTech cross reference number over to a Fram is a PH7317, NOT the Fram recommended PH6017A. Any idea what gives? Thanks.

Never mind - found it. A guy on another board said that most Jap bikes all use the same threads and that most current bike filters are all interchangeable.
The price is really attractive: $3.95 verses $14.95. Reviews say it's a top-end filter. Too, it's longer than a stock Yamaha filter which to me seems better, whether it contains more filtering media or there is more surface area exposed for additional oil cooling)

I use the SuperTech. Though the last time I went to buy one they were out so I got a Bosch. About $6.

I usually use Purolators Pure One filter. Either PL14610 or PL14612. I usually hunt around for sales.

Although I have used the following:

Napa Gold (WIX) 1356
Amsoil EAOM103
Bosch 3400 (IIRC)
Super Tech 7317
Fram Tough Guard TG7317

I am not a fan of the Fram Orange can though. I had a few issues with them, but many use them without issue.

There was a very good thread in 2008 about filters.

Good luck
