John & I decided to take a quick trip...before it gets too cold in the mountains. We left Colorado Springs on the morning of the 8th with our first stop for the night in Montrose, CO.
Just over Monarch Pass, it started getting cloudy and we hit rain just before Gunnison, CO. Luckily it didn't last long and cleared as we rode the southern side of The Black Canyon. But it makes for a beautiful sunset!

Day 2 - Montrose to Ouray, CO. and the start of The Million Dollar Highway. We stopped in Silverton, CO., where I got some great shots for the Scavenger Hunt, and had lunch. Then we headed up Molas Pass, followed by a quick stop in Durango before stopping for the night in Pagosa Springs. We had some good company for drinks in Pagosa....we were able to meet up with forum member Mexi-can't.

Day 3 - Left Pagosa Springs heading up towards Creede, CO. Creede is an old mining town, so I took a few pics from the museum there. From there we went over Spring Creek & Slumgullion Passes into Lake City where Alferd Packer ate! EWW!
We pulled into Gunnison later that day after I had gone 5 miles into the reserve. I was just a bit nervous, not knowing how far I could actually go.

Day 4 - Spent our 3rd night in Gunnison, CO. We woke up to sunny skies & temps in the 20's. There was frost on the seat! We headed back over Monarch Pass towards Salida, CO. Rode the canyon along the Arkansas River to CO hwy 9. From there we hit County Road 11 to Florissant, CO. Down Hwy 24 and home.
The trip meter read 799.1 miles when we got home.

Great to meet you and John in the big town of Pagosa. :Flash: Those 20 degree morning make for a good excuse to let the sun rise up some more before heading out huh? :D

Gunnison has an elevation of 7683 and the mountain passes were even higher and cooler!

Pagosa Springs is a lovely little town Brian! And we did leave a little later than normal because of the temps! ;)

The FZ1 and the Ducati look GREAT together!! :D
If I pulled into the driveway at 799.1 miles, I would have to drive around the block to get up to 800!!
The pics are beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing with us.
Yes, you should get your OWN FZ calendar out of THIS trip!! :)
