Moto2 was great. Kenny Noyes put on a show, shame he 'faded' to 7th only 2.2sec off the win.

Still not pleased though that its a proto class yet relies on production motors & all from the evil red empire.

What a race. Bring on Rd 3. That was an epic fight & resembled a bar room brawl in places. Elias pulled a rabbit out of his hat in the end but I don't think he will have it all his way this year.
Fantastic racing. If only MotoGP was that exciting. Bring on the 1000s

You gotta admit though, the control engine format, is providing us with some pretty damn close racing!

Both Moto2 races so far have been great. I admit to expecting the worst from this new category, but my mind is quickly changing even if I hate the single motor supplier rule.

TBH this is the rule I dislike more than the fact they are production motors.

I reckon that the initial success of the Moto2 class will encourage dorna to do something similar With the 125cc bikes???

Agree.

Wonder what capacity they could use?

If they are continuing down their path of production based motors, maybe using dirtbike based 450 or 250 singles??? Pretty much every bike manufacturer makes them. And I cannot see the manufacturers agreeing to a 'Moto3' category and spend the money developing a proto 250/350/400 or whatever capacity motor they think of.

I reckon that 250cc single, or twin, 4 stroke motors would be the route they choose! But am guessing they might be be spec'd up to produce at least some sort of meaningful horsepower...imagine if they used a ninja 250 motor!!! We would die of boredom, waiting for them to get around for a lap!

Hmm, bikes racing with motors from a Ninja badged & rebodied GPX  Would put me to sleep too.

But 4 stroke 250 singles or twins is a top idea. But remember its Dorna we are talking about.

Who knows, they may even think the Mr Fusion fitted to Doc's Delorean is the way of the future!

Yeah, the Ninja motor dates back to about 1984 i reckon...although i reckon they had more grunt back then....or maybe that was just me! Not that i ever owned one...

I reckon though if they went 250 4 strokes, the technolgy would not only be relevant for road bikes, but also off road bikes...seeing as even though they may use prodfuction engines, they may actually inadvertedly push forward technolgy for 250cc 4 strokes, but only if they dont make it a single make, control engine...

But the control engine is the key component in keeping costs down according to Dorna.

So it's unlikely we will get lucky there, same as we have been denied the chance for 600cc 4 stroke technology to be fast tracked, with a single engine rule....

Teams in any class, will find ways to spend more money than the next team, as they bend rules, and direct their money to whatever they can alter...

Maybe the big benefit to road bike development with the Moto2 class, will be via chassis, and suspension innovation, and refinement...

250 4 cyl may not be the fastest class of racing but wow it would be brutal
Moto 2 resembled a brawl in places. Close racing, closer passing & bumping of fairings.
The lack of power in a "Moto 3" class would only bring the field closer together & make one hell of a spectacle. Passing would be close & revenge would be had at the next corner
Like the old 125 racing :D

Poor ol Hans Spaan, he got ganged up on real bad that day, by a whole Posse of Italians, trying to protect Capirossi, who just needed to finish in front of Hans to win his first 125cc World Championship...

Memory's...
